Ghost stories

It is OFFICIALLY spooky month so what better way to celebrate than with some ghost talk? First, I completely understand that some people believe in ghosts while others have different beliefs. Cristian is the skeptic in our house while I'm the one looking for every opportunity to go ghost hunting. I have made it my mission that I will eventually prove to Cristian that they are real - don't ask me how I'm going to do this lol. I am going to be sharing some of my personal experiences as well as stories I've been told - buckle up witches!

The man in the tophat

When I was little, I used to see a man in a tophat outside of my bedroom window. My bedroom window was on the backside of our house, and my backyard had quite a few trees and was very woodsy. This hasn't happened since I was little, so everything isn't crystal clear, but I'll do my very best to recall the important details. Several times I would wake up in the middle of the night, look out my window, and see the shadow of a man wearing a trench coat and a top hat. I can remember the fear creeping up and feeling almost paralyzed by it. I would just tuck my head under the covers and hope that because I couldn't see him, I was safe. I could never see a face, just a shadow, and he never made noise or went anywhere else other than outside of my window. Fast forward fifteen years! My mom and I were having some wine and talking about ghosts and such (I really do love this stuff, lol). Well, I finally decided to tell my mom about the man in the tophat. As I told her about him, I noticed her making a strange facial expression. Come to find out, my mom saw a man in a tophat when she was a child. Her story is similar to mine, with minor details changed. For her, the man appeared at the end of her bed, not outside of her window. Still, pretty freaking crazy that we both experienced this, right?! Naturally, we were both incredibly intrigued by the man in the tophat at this point, which led us on a google search frenzy! Click here for an article I found on this that is pretty interesting if you want to hear more about this phenomenon! Have you ever seen a man in a tophat as a kid?

Ouija Board

Yes, yes... I know that most people want nothing to do with these, lol but give me a chance! Times were different when I was a kid, and being at home without parents was the norm. I was at home with two of my best friends, my older brother, older cousin, and younger cousin. We had all decided to get spooky up in that bish and broke out the ouija board. We all sat around the board with our fingertips on the planchette, hopeful to hear from a spirit. Nothing happened. Not a single nudge, lol. Later on, in the evening, we started talking about things that we had heard about the ouija board from friends/family. One of those things is that you should never, ever put a bible on a ouija board. Even though I'm into spooky, I wouldn't have done this then, and I still wouldn't do it to this day. Well, my older cousin felt differently and tossed a small hand-held bible that I kept by my nightstand onto the board. The sky turned red... kidding, lol. But seriously... maybe an hour later, I heard a small thumping sound on the roof that sounded like footsteps. I didn't want to say anything at first because I didn't want to be that person. One of my friends was the first to mention it...
Do you guys hear that?
We all stopped talking and began listening for the thumping. Not only did every single one of us hear the thumping, but it had gotten much louder and was clearly footsteps at this point. We split up with two people going outside to look on the roof and the rest staying inside. The people that went outside said there was no one on the roof, and the people inside still heard the thumping during that time. Eventually, the thumping died down and went away altogether, but the memory will forever remain. The moral of the story - don't put a bible on a ouija board. lol, Do you think it was something ghostly? If not, what do you think it was?

Ouija - another POV

This next story is not something I personally experienced, but a story that was shared with me by someone who claimed it did happen to them. If it sounds a little crazy, I am only the messenger, lol. We will refer to the main character in this story as Dave. Dave used the ouija often and seemed to have a lot of success with it. One night he was with his buddies, and they were messing around with the board. During that time, they began giving their friend, Steve, a hard time because everyone told him repeatedly that his girlfriend, Shannon, was cheating on him. Steve was in denial and basically brushed the assumptions off. Dave had the bright idea to bring the question to the board. They began asking the board questions.
Is Shannon faithful?
Ouija: No
Where is Shannon currently?
Ouija: T O M M Y
Who is Tommy, you ask? Well, Tommy is the name of another guy that this group of friends knew. They knew him well enough to know his address. Naturally, the group of friends decided to take a drive to see if the board was telling the truth. Sure enough, they arrive at Tommy's house, and guess who's car is in the driveway? Shannon's.
Dave has told me many stories about his experience with the Ouija board, and I could probably write an entire blog post on just those, lol. I will end this story by skipping to the end of Dave's Ouija board adventures - the day he was too freaked out and tried to get rid of it. He and his friends were playing with the board when it did something that freaked everyone out to the point that they threw the board in the air and ran out of the house. After several hours passed by, everyone returned to the house. When they walked in the door, the Ouija was somehow in the center of the room (remember this was thrown into the air when they left), and the planchette was pointed onto the word "Goodbye." This was the final straw. Dave took the board outside, threw it into the fire pit, poured some gasoline onto it, and lit it on fire. The board would not burn... and as a reminder, there is nothing special about this board. It is simply a piece of cardboard. It took five gallons of gasoline to get the board to finally turn to ash.
